On illumos, mkdir(2) of an entry\u000ain an autofs indirect map such as the default /home returns ENOSYS\u000a(\"Operation not applicable\") instead of EEXIST, so since 10.6p1 every\u000auser with an automounted home gets\u000a\u000a  sshd-session[...]: error: mkdir_path: mkdir(\"/home/klausz\"): Operation not applicable\u000a  sshd-session[...]: error: agent_listener_user: failed to create agent socket parent directory\u000a\u000aand no SSH_AUTH_SOCK. ssh-agent(1) started by such a user fails the\u000asame way, as does sftp \"lmkdir -p\". 10.5 only created ~/.ssh and\u000a~/.ssh/agent and was not affected.\u000a\u000aAdd 1007-mkdir-path-autofs-existing-dirs.patch: remember a non-EEXIST\u000amkdir error, open the component as a directory anyway and only fail\u000awith the original mkdir error if that fails too. Same for the\u000anon-openat fallback via stat(2). To be submitted upstream.\u000a\u000aTested on OpenIndiana Hipster 2026.04 with a lofs-automounted\u000a/home/sshtest: unpatched 10.6p1 logs the errors above on \"ssh -A\" and\u000athe session has no agent; with this patch the socket is created under\u000a~/.ssh/agent (0700) and \"ssh-add -l\" lists the forwarded key. Logins\u000awithout -A and \"AgentSocketPath shared:/tmp\" work with both builds.\u000a",
